SWMW Law is proud to announce Associate Javairia Khan has been named to Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s 2022 class of Up & Coming Lawyers.
“Javairia brings a burgeoning wealth of knowledge and expertise to our asbestos and mesothelioma practice. She is passionate when fighting for our clients and becomes an extension of the families for whom we fight,” said Member Lauren Williams. “Her worth to our firm, our clients, and her fellow colleagues is immeasurable, and we are proud to share with the legal community what we’ve always known to be true— she will change countless lives, both professionally and personally.”
The Up & Coming Awards recognize early-career attorneys who are making a positive difference in the practice of law in Missouri and whose outstanding contributions have them on the track for success. This year’s honorees were recognized during a luncheon held in October, as well as in a special section of Missouri Lawyers Weekly.
Khan joined the firm in 2020 after graduating cum laude from Saint Louis University School of Law the same year. As a member of the firm’s bankruptcy department, she helps lead a team that seeks to maximize recoveries from companies that made or supplied asbestos-containing products but have since petitioned for bankruptcy. In addition to her tasks and responsibilities related to that role, she also supervises the firm’s two lead bankruptcy paralegals. She also volunteered to assume a leadership role on an internal committee within the firm that aims to improve workflow, communication, and data management. Under her leadership, the committee is developing several plans that will outline how to improve data management systems, how the firm’s teams can better engage with each other, and how the firm can further develop its team members into fellow leaders.
